S U IT E III WEST WASHINGTON CHICAGO President JAMES B. BLAINE E X E C U T IV E V IC E P R E S ID E N T JO H N F. C U N E O 13-49 STREET 2, I L L I N O I S February 17, 1948 CO. The Honorable Marriner S. Eccles Vice Chairman, Federal Reserve Board Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Sccles: I am glad that I was able to reach you by telephone to invite you to address The Executives' Club at one of our regular Friday luncheons* Your extremely heavy schedule of the present is appreciated and it is our sincere hope that our members will have the opportunity of hearing you speak before our season ends in June. During the next few months the engulfing problems of inflation will likely be topmost among those fatiguing questions that plague American business men and I am confident that our members would be most eager to hear you. You could feel free to speak to us on any subject that you deem appropriate and, of course, we would expect to pay your expenses and an honorarium you feel would be suitable. The enclosed program folder will, I hope, give you some idea of our programs of the past three years. I am sure you understand our eagerness to hear you and we regret we have so few open dates left. Following Clare Boothe Luce in March we have for April, Lord Inverchapel, Secretary of Labor Schwellenbach, Air Secretary Symington and Dr. Wellington Koo. Our May schedule is open with the exception of the 14th when we shall hear The Honorable James a . Farley and Congressman Mundt is our only engagement so far in June. As mentioned in our telephone conversation, I shall call you after the first of March in the hope that you may see your way clear to accept one of our later dates in May or our open date in June. Sincerely, JBBtirm
