ST A TE UNIVERSITY O F IO W A CO LLEGE OF COMMERCE Iow a C D e p a r t m e n t o f E c o n o m ic s it y March 13, 1951 Governor Marriner S. Eccles Board of Governors Federal Reserve System Washington 2£, D. G. Dear Governor Eccles: I am delighted to learn in your letter of March 7 that you ■will be able to participate in the program of the Midwest Economics Association as the speaker at our opening meeting on the evening of April 19 in Milwaukee. The meeting is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Hotel Pfister and all our meetings are informal. Your address will be the only one of the evening, and I would say that on the average that most of our speakers at such meetings speak for approximately forty-five minutes. I would very much appreciate an expression of your attitude toward informal discussion from the floor following your remarks. We will be guided solely by your wishes in this matter. Final copy for the entire program, circulated in advance of our meeting, will probably be completed by the first week in April, and we would like veiy much to include a title for your address in our printed program. Hotel reservations are being made for you for the evening of April 19 at the Hotel Pfister. On behalf of the entire membership of the Association, I want to express my appreciation of your cooperation. We shall look forward to meeting and hearing you. Sincerely yours, Paul R. Olson PR0:gvm
