Dear Marriner:

I thought you would be interested
in the enclosed editorial which appeared in this

many complimentary remarks regarding your address.
It was good to see you and I en
joyed a lot our interesting conversation.

Dear Herb:
I just returned from a trip to Utah, where I had a
very pleasant visit with my family and friends. I spent
one day at the Duck Club with George, and also spent a few
days in Idaho visiting the sugar factories, etc.
Upon my return I found your letter oi' October ¿9
had arrived at my office a few days after I was in Des Moines.
I greatly appreciate your favorable comments on my
speech before the Iowa Bankers. I felt it was a little long
and perhaps too technical for the audience, but it is im
possible to cover such a complex subject in a short and simple
statement. I was happy to have the opportunity to see some
of my banker friends and to meet some of the other Iowa
bankers. I specially enjoyed seeing and visiting with you.
I was glad to have the clipping from the Des Moines
Register covering an editorial on my address, and I want to
thank you for sending it on to me.
with kindest regards.

Sincerely yours,

Mr. Herbert L. Horton, President,
Iowa-Des Moines National Bank,
Des Moines 4, Iowa.
