The Honorable Marriner S. Eccles, Chairman,
Board of Governors,
Federal Reserve System,
Washington, D. C.
Sirs
Inasmuch as your talk before
the National Industrial Conference Board Tuesday
evening was "on the record”, I am wondering if
you would be good enough to send me two copies
of your remarks.
I found what you had to say
extremely interesting, and several of us here in
the bank would like the opportunity of reviewing
your comments for purposes of our internal dis
cussion groups.
Very sincerely yours,
'

Dear Mr. Eccles:
Touchdown i It was high time that not only the
National Industrial Conference Board, but the bankers
were being told that "the creation, cost and flow
of money in the economy" is a function of sovereignty.
Will you please ask your office to send me a copy of
your speech before the N. I. C. B.?
Would it be ask
ing too much if our name was put on the mailing list
to receive copies of all of your speeches which are so
helpful and constructive to us here?
Unfortunately I did not here you speak before the
Municipal Conference here. I arranged a speech by
my friend, Dave Coyle, before the heads of all the
banks here at that time. Dave gave them plenty to
think about, if possible. (He and I both got a kick
out of some of his best points floating over the heads
of some of our local "lights".) At the same time I
was up to my ears as a member of the Control Committee
which will produce "Fun to be Free" here on December
tenth. This "hot bed of isolationism and home of Lind
bergh" needs something to wake it up.
If you ever find
any way of persuading the "best minds" to read any
thing, won't you please let me know?
With my highest esteem,
Sincerely,

Hon. Marriner S. Eccles,
Board of Governors, Federal Reserve System
Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr.

vonlAiindegger:

In accord«., ce with your letter of November ¿9»
a copy of my talk before the National Industrial Conference
Board has been mailed to you. Needless to say, I am
pleased to have your favorable comments on it. Your name
is also being added to the mailing list to receive copies
of speeches, as you request.
I am sorry I did not have the good fortune to
see you when 1 was in St. Louis. It was a complete sur
prise to me that Chester Davis had arranged for me to
appear before the Municipal Conference. I would have
very much preferred to listen to Dave Coyle.
In case you discover how to persuade the
"best minds" to read, I wish you would let me know.
Again thanking you for your encouragement and
with kindest personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

M. S. Eccles,
Chairman.
