Mr. Marriner S. Eccles
Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System
Washington 25, D. C.
Dear Marriner:
It was nice talking with you the other day, and I
do appreciate your sending me a copy of the address which you gave
before the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. I have read it, and
thoroughly agree with you in every detail. It certainly is pro
vocative, and the boys must have left the meeting with plenty to
think about. I hope there will be a chance to see you soon, so
that we can talk more about some of the matters and questions you
raised in the speech.
I appreciate your thoughtfulness in agreeing to talk
at one of the luncheons of the American Veterans Committee here in
Washington, and will plan to contact your secretary later this month
to set up a date sometime in the latter part of June. We have a
very good schedule set for May, which included a meeting this week
with Assistant Secretary of Interior Davidson, and will include for
the rest of the month former congressman Charles LaFollette, who has
just returned from Germany, Assistant Secretary of State Willard
Thorp, and Dr. Condon of the Bureau of Standards. I am sure that
the fellows would be very grateful for your discussion of the economic
picture in a rather fundamental way, dealing with the subject somewhat
along the lines of the California speech.

thanks again.

Looking forward to seeing you again very soon, and
Best wishes,

Robert R. Nathan
