GOVERNOR

Hon. Marriner S. Eccles, Governor
Federal Reserve Board
Washington, D. C.
Dear Governor Eccles:
We are all very happy to know that you are
coming to Boston on Saturday, February 16, 1955.
When a member of the Board visits us in
Boston, it 1ms been the practice of Mr. Curtiss and myself
to invite a group of Boston bankers (about thirty) to an
informal luncheon at one of the clubs.
A round table talk
is indulged in but there are no set speeches.
We hope
you will permit us to do this for you.

Also, it would give Mrs. Young and myself

Mr. Hoy A. Young, Governor,
Federal R eserv e Bank of Boston,
Boston, Massachusetts.
Dear Governor Youngs
I a® glad to know that you all are pleased that I «ill be
coming to Boston in February. I appreciate your thoughtfulness
regarding the round table talk at an informal luncheon of Boston
bankers but I am afraid that my plans will not permit such an
arrangement on this trip to Boston.

Since oaking the arrangement to speak in Boston the even
ing of February 16th, Mr. Creighton has been in my office to see
if I could give a short talk at a luncheon on Friday, the 15th.
I have advised Mr. Creighton that I will be glad to accept his
invitation if it can be arranged so that the February 16th even
ing appointment can be changed to February 15th. I have not yet
heard from lir. Creighton as to whether or n>3t he has been able to
satisfactorily arrange this.
I greatly appreciate the thoughtfulness of you and Mrs.
Young in suggesting that I stay at your house during my contem
plated visit to your city in February. I a» sure that I would
find it vary leasant and comfortable, but at present I plan to
get into Boston in the morning and return to Nev York on a late
evening train that same day. I am sorry that it will not be
possible for me to avail myself of your kindness.
Kith kindest regards,
Sincerely yours,

P. S.
