Hon* Marriner S. Eccles, Chairman,
Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System,
Washington, D. C*
Dear Governor Eccles:
Mr* Nardin tells me that you have consented
to speak at our oelebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary
of the opening of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on
Thursday, November 9. He doubtless explained in a general
way our arrangements.
I hope that you can arrange to get to St. Louis
by 2 p.m. on November 9, as we expect to have a reception
here at the bank from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. so that the bankers
may get to meet you personally. As you doubtless know,
we are arranging to have your speech here at St. Louis by
wire relay and radio amplification heard simultaneously
at dinners held at the three branches.
If you will let me know when you expect to
arrive I will be glad to meet you, though doubtless this
has already been arranged.
Yours sincerely,

President*

November 1, 1939.

Hon. Marriner S. Eccles, Chairman,
Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System,
Washington, D. C.
Dear Governor Eccles:
It was my understanding from a telephone
conversation with Mr. Morrill that you wanted me to
see that you had accommodations here in St. Louis
for your stay during our 25th anniversary celebration.
I have made a reservation at the Jefferson Hotel.
As I thought perhaps you might reach here by
plane, I have taken this available the night of
November 8, but whenever you arrive the hotel will
take care of you.
If you can let me know how you will reach
here and at what time, it will be a pleasure to meet
you or have you met and taken to the hotel.

Yours sinoerely,

President.
