Hon. Marriner S. Eccles
Chairman of the Board of Governors
Federal Reserve System
Washington, D. C.
My dear Gov. Eccles;
In response to your request, through Mr. Bucklin, I
am sending you today, under separate cover, by registered
mail, all the copies of your address to the Seventh New
England Bank Management Conference as received from the
stenotypist, and also the stenotype tape on which your
remarks were recorded.
As you know, it is our plan to publish the entire
proceedings of the Conference for distribution to the
banks of the New England states. To that end, we shall
appreciate it if you will, at your earliest convenience,
make such changes in the transcript of your remarks as
you desire and return the corrected copy to us for in
corporation in the published proceedings*
May I add that ever since the hour of your address
we have been in daily receipt of requests for copies*
We have, of course, responded to all these requests with
the statement that no copies would be available until
you had placed in our hands corrected and authorized
transcript of your remarks.
May I take this occasion to express again our thanks
for your participation in the proceedings of this year’s
New England Bank Management Conference.
I am

November 27> 1936.

Mr. iAidley Harmon,
Executive Vie© President,
New England Council,
Statler Building,
Boston, Massachusetts.
My dear Mr. Hannon:
This is to acknowledge your letter of November
23d and to thank you for sending me the copies of my ex
temporaneous talk before the 7th New England Bank Manage
ment Conferenc. At the earliest opportunity I shall go
over the manuscript. I felt afterward that what I aid was
very disjointed and I was not at all satisfied, so that I
am not at all certain that these remarks which were intended
to be off the record are suitable for publication in any
form. However, I shall advise you as promptly as possible.
I wish to thank you again for sending me the
transcripts as well as the stenotype, and I would appre
ciate it if you would convey my thanks also to Mr. °ucklin.
I was very glad to have the privilege of appearing before
the Conference. My only regret is that my own remarks were
not all that I would have wished to have them.
Sincerely yours,

M. S. Eccles,
Chairman.
