THE P L A IN F IE L D T R U S T C O M P A N Y P L A I N FI E L D, N. J. May 19,1938. Honorable Marriner S. Eccles, Federal Reserve Board, Washington,D.C. Dear Mr. Eccles: Nearly a week has passed since you honored the bankers of New Jersey by attending their Thirty-Fifth Annual Convention in Atlantic City and as Chairman of the Committee in charge of the Convention, I want to express to you our appreciation of your courtesy in visiting us. We realize that it must be difficult for you, with so many pressing duties, to take any time away from Washington. It was a pleasure to me personally to have an opportunity to talk with you and I hope that this will be the first of many visits which you will make to our State. I trust that you enjoyed your stay in Atlantic City as much as we enjoyed having you'with us. Cordially yours, Vi May 23, 1938. Dear Mr, Davis: Your thoughtful note of May 19th is particularly appreciated because it was somewhat of an imposition, after having first declined the invitation for tne Convention, to change this de cision belatedly. 1 am especially grateful to you as Chairman of the Committee in charge of the Con vention and your associates 1'or the arrangements you made, which could not have been improved upon from my standpoint. I trust that you will afford me the pleasure of seeing you if you have occasion to visit Washington. Sincerely yours, M. S. Eccles, Chairman. Mr. H. Douglas Davis, Vice President, The Plainfield Trust Company, Plainfield, New Jersey. EF:b
