FEDERAL HOUSING ADMINISTRATION WASHINGTON STEWART MCDONALD ADMINISTRATOR November 30, 1937 Honorable Marriner S. Eccles, Chairman federal Reserve System Washington, D. C. Dear Marriner: I am enclosing herewith clipping from Sunday's Washington Post, which describes several of the large scale housing projects financed through the FHA insurance system and now being erected in Washington. lie would be very happy, indeed, if you would let us show you these, as they illustrate very well what may be accomplished in the shape of low rental housing through private capital. It would only take an hour or two to go with me on a tour of these projects, and I am sure the time could not be better spent in the effort to solve this housing problem. Sincerely yours, Stewart ivIcDonald Administrator December 3, 1937. Honorabel btewart McDonald, administrator, Federal Housing Administration, Washington, D. C. Dear btewart: This will acknowledge with thanks your note of November 30th enclosing the clipping from the Washington Po^t describing several of the large-scale housing projects now being erected in the Washington area* I would like very much to look over these projects and if I ever get a breathing spell, 1 shall certainly call you. However, between the housing bill and my own job here, I have been completely covered up and the prospects of the situation easing up in the near future are not very favorable. Sincerely yours, &* Iccies, Chairman.
