OFFICE OF PRICE ADMINISTRATION WASHINGTON 25, D. C. March 29, 1944 CHESTER BOWLES ADMINISTRATOR Mr* Marriner S* Iccles Chairman Board of Gorernors Tederai Eeserre System Washington, D* C* Dear Marriner: I am attaching a copy of our opening testimony "before the Senate Banking and Currency Committee on the renewal of the Emergency Price Control Act* Some of these charts are interesting and I thought you might like to look them over* My hest personal regards* Sincerely, Chester Bowles Administrator Attachment 25 April 1, 19UU, Honorable Chester Bowles, Administrator, Office of Prioe Administration, Washington 25» D« C . Dear Chester: I am so favorably impressed with the graphic presentation on renewal of the Price Control Act that I should like very much to be able to provide copies for the benefit of the presidents of the Federal Reserve Banks as well as our staff here. I don't suppose you have any considerable surplus of this excellent compilation, but on the chance that you might have as many as fifteen that you could spare to us, I am at least making the effort to obtain then if possible. Sometimes a good case is lost because it is not well presented. Tou had a good case and I do not see how it could have been better presented. The more I think of it, the more remarkable I think it is that you have succeeded so well in meeting and diminishing the inevitable hostility to OPA. This graphic presentation strikes me as something that we, as well as others, could well profit by in preparing and presenting material in the future. That's why I am so eager to have enough additional copies to exhibit within the System as a striking example of how a job of this kind ought to be done. With kindest personal regards Sincerely yours OFFICE OF PRICE ADMINISTRATION WASHINGTON 25, D. C. CHESTER BOWLES A D M I NI STRATOR April 3 f 1944 Mr. Marriner S.
