FEDERAL

RESERVE

BANK

O F DALLAS
April 1, 1939

Dear Mr. Ecclesi
Mr. W. A. Philpott, Jr., Secretary of the Texas
Bankers Association, has advised me that you have been in
vited to attend the Fifty-Fifth Annual Convention of that
Association which -mill be held in Dallas on May 16, 17 and
18, 1939, and to address the meeting on one of those days.
We hope you may find it possible to accept the
invitation, as it would give you an opportunity to meet a
number of the bankers in this district and to visit this
bank and possibly one or two of its branches while you are
in the State. If you should decide to visit us we will be
glad to arrange a special meeting of our Board of Directors
•while you are here and to also arrange an automobile trip
to our San Antonio or Houston branch, if you wish.
Trusting you can accept Mr. Philpott's invitation
and that we may have the pleasure of a visit from you during
the convention, I am, with kindest personal regards and best
wishes,

Lbert
First Vice^Paesident
Mr. Marriner S. Eccles, Chairman
Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System
Washington, D. C.

April 11, 1939.

Dear Mr. Gilbert:
In reply to your letter of April 1, let
me say that I have advised Mr. Philpott that if 1
can arrange to do so, I shall attend the convention
of the Texas Bankers Association, but- that I can
only give him a tentative acceptance at this time
and will let him know definitely during the first
week in May.
In the event that I am able to come to
Dallas, I should hope to satisfy a long deferred wish to
visit the Reserve Bank and possibly the Houston Branch
if that conveniently can be arranged.
In the meantime, please accept my thanks for
your courtesy.
Sincerely yours,

Mr. E. R. Gilbert,
First Vice-President,
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas,
Dallas, Texas.
