February ¿7, 1945«

Dear Lyle:
When I was before the Senate Banking and Currency Committee the other day on the question of changing
the gold reserve requirements for Federal Reserve notes
and deposits, I was unexpectedly questioned as to what
could be done to prevent inflation of capital values*
I had no prepared statement, and I believe that the Committee has not yet printed the hearings in a form available
to the public« Accordingly, I am unable to comply with
the request in your letter of February 2U*
With best regards,
Sincerely yours,

Mr. Lyle T. Alverson*
