January 13 , 1937.

Mr. T. H. Van ¿»ant, Cashier
The Callaway Bank
Fulton, Missouri
Dear Mr. Van ¿ant:
It was kind of you to write me under
date of January 8th with reference to my address
before the New England '■'ouncil on November 13th.
I appreciate your complimentary references to
that address, particularly your recognition of
the fact that in my criticism of the banking
leadership of the country 1 have endeavored to
protect the system from its own follies. Cer
tainly if our banking structure cannot serve
the people better than it did during the recent
depression, the people of the country will not
permit it to continue.
Yours very sincerely,

M. S. Eccles
