FEDERAL RESERVE BANK
OF

ST. I^OUIS
September 10 f 1935,

Mr. Lawrence Clayton,
Assistant to the Governor,
Federal Reserve Board,
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. Clayton:
When you were here you spoke
of the possibility of Governor Eccles visiting
us on his return to Washington. As I do not
know -where to reach him I am writing to you to
ask that you tell him we are most anxious to
see him and will do our best to make him have
a pleasant visit here. I have talked to Governor
Hamilton and he is hoping that he will also visit
Kansas City.
Please tell the Governor that if
he finds he can visit us to wire me how he will
arrive in St» Louis and the time so that I can
meet him and to let me know how long he thinks
he can stay. It would be fine if you also could
visit us at the time the Governor is here.
Yours sincerely,

Governor.

September 15, 1955.

Ox* W* McC* Martin, Governor,
Federal Reserve Bank of
St# Louis, Missouri*
Dear Governor Martini
Replying to yours of September 10, Mr, Ecclesf plena
are somewhat dependent upon the date of the President's visit
to Boulder Dam* It has been ay guess, however, that he will
be returning east along about the first week in October*
X noted froa a press despatch yesterday that Chairman Eccles was listed as one of the speakers at the convention
of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America at French Lick,
Indiana, October 2nd and4th* Since your Director's meeting
at St. Louis cones on October 2nd, it might be that you could
write Governor Eccles urging him to visit with you on the 2nd
which would permit him to speak at French Lick either October
3rd or 4th.
While I am forwarding a copy of your letter to Mr*
Eccles, I would suggest that you write him regarding the
above* His address is care of the Eccles Investment Company, Ogden, Utah*
With best wishes, and again expressing my appreciation for your courtesies during my recent visit, I am,
Sincerely, yours,

Lawrence Clayton,
Assistant to the Chairman*
