DIVISION OF BANK OPERATIONS January 31, 1936 Scope of Activities Collects and presents to the Board information regarding — Condition and the financial results of operations of the Federal Reserve banks and of member and nonmember banks; Disc&jnt, open market, and other operations of the Federal Reserve banks; Organization, liquidation, consolidation and suspension of member and nonmember banks; Branch banking and affiliates. Prepares for publication — Weekly condition statement of Federal Reserve banks, as required by Section 11 of the Federal Reserve Actj Weekly condition statement of reporting member oanks in 101 leading cities^ Weekly statement of debits to individual deposit accounts by banks in approximately 270 leading cities; Quarterly %ember B&hk Call Report*; Semi-annual par List and monthly supplements. Operates the Interdistrict Settlement Fund (formerly called Gold Settlement Fund), Supervises the printing of Federal Reserve notes and the distribution of such notes and of United States currency to the Federal Reserve agents and the Federal Reserve banks. Handles matters relating to — Retirement Fund; Personnel classification plans of the Federal Reserve banks; Changes in salaries of officers and employees of the Federal Reserve banks. Obtains and compares detailed operating costs of the Federal Reserve banks, by objects of expenditure and by functions ^nd expense units, set up in accordance with a detailed manual of instructions; makes field sui-veys of operating procedure and methods of allocating expenses to functions. Prepares report forms and instructions, examines and edits the reports and tabulate$ statistics therefrom, maintains records, and conducts correspondence with the Federal Reserve banks and the public in connection with the above and related subjects.
