February 7, 1940,

Dear Don:
Your note of February 3>
written notwithstanding the difficulties
of penmanship on a train, was very much
appreciated. While I do not know what
the Senate may do about the appointment,
it is gratifying to have the encouragement of my friends, especially those like
yourself who know from personal experience
of the pains and perils of the public service.
With kindest personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

n's OtHee
