Hy dear President: My attention has been called to the fact that Mr. William H. Pouch, President of the Concrete Steel Company, Two Park Avenue, New York City, is being considered as a new member of the Federal Reserve Board at Washington. The experience of Mr. Pouch in the industrial field, particularly so with relation to credit, qualifies him admirably for a position of this nature* I am sure that your interest in Mr. Pouch will be beneficial to all concerned. Roosevelt The White House Washington, D.C. 7 Dear Franklin: Several of my friends - some of them with us on tne New Deal - have come asking that I turn in to you tne name of Mr. William H. Pougn of Greenwicn, Connecticut as a possiole appointee on tne reorganized Federal Reserve Board. I believe tnere are to be seven memoers and taey seem to feel that you would probably appoint one or two Republicans and that it would be good business to have one of tnem a man most of whose business experience nas ^een in tne commercial credit field. I know Mr. Poucn, a man of wealtn and wno has been president of the National Association of Credit Men and I am told tnat they recommend his appointment. I understand tnat his endorsement has already been sent to Mr. Mclntyre and I am sending you a copy of his qualifications. I spoke up in Greenwich a few evenings ago. It is violently Republican and it is possible that tne appointment of a Republican from tnere, especially a man of Mr. Pough 1 s attainments would be a wise thing. Anyhow, please read his qualifications and have a little word sent me acknowledging my letter.
