isCsONGRESS 80TH ¥ ¥ T\ O A A O ™ rL K. 2443 THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 10,1947 Mr. DAVIS of Georgia introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Banking and Currency MAUCH A BILL To cancel regulation W and to prevent regulation of consumer credit by the Federal Government. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That Presidential Executive Order Numbered 8843, issued 4 August 9, 1941, and the regulation issued and adopted 5 thereunder by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve 6 System on August 21, 1941, to become effective September 7 1, 1941, known as regulation W, together with all subse- 8 quent amendments and supplements thereto be, and the same 9 are hereby, canceled and voided: Provided, That from and 10 after the passage of this Act there shall not be vested in the 1 Board of Governors of the Federal Eeserve System or any 2 other Federal governmental official or agency the power to 3 issue or enforce said above-mentioned regulation and supple4 ments, or any other method of regulation of consumer credit: 5 Provided further, That all laws and parts of laws in conflict 6 herewith are hereby repealed. i § S §2 1 £> I SS CD in & Q o I g P u S o O 3 5 2 r r g E to CO 1
