The papers of Melvin A, Traylor, lawyer, bank president,
member and vice president of the Federal Advisory Council, member
of the organization committee for the Bank for International Settlements, are housed in the sub-basement of the First National Bank of
Chicago. They are classified and filed as they came from Mr. Traylor1
office after his death in 1934-• They include considerable material
concerning the Federal Reserve System, and the Federal Advisory
Council.
Measure of size: 4 steel file cabinets, each containing
4. drawers
Approximate number of items:
It is thought that these papers were not used when Cyril
James was studying the Forgan papers (in the same sub-basement)•
The collection would be made available to qualified students
working under the Committee on the History of the Federal Reserve
System and obtaining permission from the President of the First
National Bank of Chicago.
