Benjamin Strong COMMITTEE ON THE HISTORY OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM R e g i s t e r of P a p e r s I P r o c e s s e d : MA, IB Bate: 2/8/54 11/1/55 (1872 - 1928) The papers of Benjamin Strong, banker, first governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, are divided between the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Lincoln Storage Warehouse and the Library at Princeton University. The collection at the New York Federal Reserve Bank is in two places, A major group (known as the Strong papers) is set aside in two file cabinets and kept customarily in the Correspondence File Room; this collection was moved to the research room in the offices of this Committee in February, 1955> for the use of Dr, Lester V, Chandler. A listing of material included in this collection is appended. In addition to this collection, a great many letters and memoranda from Mr, Strong on matters of policy and bank operation are incorporated in the regular Ueneral Correspondence Files of the Bank under the appropriate subject headings. Both these groups are available to students only with special permission. Papers in the Lincoln Warehouse, New York City, are the property of Mr. Benjamin Strong, Jr. No list of these has been made, but they are understood to be mostly personal. Papers in the Library at Princeton include a fine collection of bound scrapbooks of clippings covering World War I, as well as a currency collection and a poster collection.
