These papers concern events from the summer of 1899 forward.
Mr. Root's office files from 1867 to 1915 are in the custody
of the firm of Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam and Roberts; those from 1915
to retirement are in the office of Mr. Root's law firm, now Dewey, aaliantine, Bushby, Palmer and Wood.
The Library of Congress has a 10-page listing of materials
in its possession which is not adequately revealing.
