The papers of Frank A, Vanderlip, newspaper man, editor,
Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, monetary reformer, banker, real
estate developer, are at-present stored in a garage on the family
estate at Scarborough, New York.
Linear feet of shelf space occupied:

Approximate number of items:
The collection has been promised to the Library of Columbia
University, and should be moved there this winter.
Literary rights are the property of Mr. Vanderlip1s widow,
and of the writers of letters in the collection.
At present no facilities exist whereby students can examine
this important collection. Its removal to Columbia should greatly
increase the usefulness of the papers.

The Venderlip collection was removed to Columbia University
in December of 1955 and January, 1956. It is believed to be
rich in important material, and is being set in order for the
use of scholars.

fragmentary. Not until it is moved to Columbia and catalogued can
one know its scope or full importance.




The collection includes among other groups:
(1) A complete set of the many pamphlets -which Mr,
Vanderlip issued on monetary affairs
(2) A complete set of his many periodical articles
(3) 12 or more volumes of newspaper clippings (1909-37?)
of which at least 3 were devoted to banking matters
(4.) Folders of correspondence, memoranda, etc,
(5) Banking library of bound books
(6) Bound volume of letters from James A. Stillman
(7) Collection of newspapers pertaining to the Warren
Harding term as President
