Dear Everett:
I*m delighted that you have made so much p r o g r e s s on the
biography of Owen D. Young, That i s a biography that should be
published, for it will help to r e v e a l a m i s u n d e r s t o o d e r a .
K e r m i t Gordon has authorized m e to go over the papers
here and send you x e r o x c o p i e s of relevant materials* I a m now
going through Mildred A d a m s * (Kenyon) notes and m e m o s on her
i n t e r v i e w s , and will send c o p i e s of t h e s e in a few days. I have
talked with Mildred, who a g r e e s that c o p i e s of the papers related
to your project should be turned over to you. They c o n s i s t chiefly
of her interviews with M r . Young and with your father, Mr. Case*
1*11 hope to send them along within a w e e k or ten days*
Mildred a s s e m b l e d about s i x or eight file d r a w e r s of m a t e r i a l
for the F e d e r a l R e s e r v e H i s t o r y to aid the author that never was
found available for enough time to undertake the task. So the project
w a s abandoned about 1957.
We have s i n c e given the Carter G l a s s papers to the University
of Virginia. The F e d has been offered s o m e m a t e r i a l s . K e r m i t and
I now a g r e e that we should deposit the r e s t of these m a t e r i a l s with
a) the F e d e r a l R e s e r v e Board. 2) the B u r g e s s l i b r a r y of B u s i n e s s
and Finance at Columbia, or 3) with the Harvard B u s i n e s s School
L i b r a r y . While s o m e of the i n t e r v i e w s were taken with a s s u r a n c e s
of confidentiality and "not for quotation, *% I find little in them that
now would c r e a t e any e m b a r r a s s m e n t . M o s t of the a c t o r s a r e gone,
and the few brief, touchy r e f e r e n c e s would do little m o r e than give
historians leads.
In any event I have a g r e e d to go over the m a t e r i a l this stammer
and give K e r m i t a m e m o by September on wliat disposition should be
m a d e of the m a t e r i a l . If you have any s u g g e s t i o n s I should w e l c o m e
them. I w i l l a l s o s o l i c i t s u g g e s t i o n s f r o m A l a n Sproul and B i l l Martin
who w e r e on our original s t e e r i n g c o m m i t t e e .

I shall be most interested in your biography when it a p p e a r s .
If you come to Washington during the s u m m e r and wish to see any
of this m a t e r i a l , let m e know. There a r e occasional references to
Mr. Young in M i l d r e d ' s other interviews, but as I review the files
during the s u m m e r , 1*11 extract these if important and send them
to you*
