March 17, 1954 Internal Memgrandm Interview with Professor Gardner Patterson Head of the International Finance Section, Princeton University, Princeton» N. J. Professor Patterson is a young, energetic and very able expert on international finance. He had heard of the Federal Reserve History Project and inquired whether or not it might be possible for him to do some work in the major project. He is particularly interested in international finance and would probably be working in the period 1914 to 1928, I discussed with him the possible setup of operations under the projected main plan and suggested that it would be helpful If he would write a letter setting forth his particular field of interest and the thing which he had in mind. I assured him that this would not coiomit him to anything nor would it include any promise from us. Mr. Patterson is one of the able younger people in this field. If he can work on the international exchange and finance section of any comprehensive project that may be agreed on, he may be very valuable. MA: Ik
