WEEKLY DEPARTMENT STORE SALES
NOTICE OF TERMINATION

This is the final H«8«a report to be issued by the Board
of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Responsibility for
preparation of national figures on weekly department store sales
has been transferred to the Bureau of the Census and, beginning
next week, that agency's Weekly Retail Trade Report will include
data for department stores as a regular feature. Those persons
interested in this comprehensive report on retail sales should write
to the Publications Section, Bureau of the Census, Washington,D.C.
for further information.
The Federal Reserve J3anks will continue for the time being
to publish weekly department store sales for selected cities and
metropolitan areas. Additionally, a summary of these local figures
will be included in a revised version of the H.B.b report regularly
issued by the Board each Friday. To obtain this H.B.b release, please
write the Boardls Division of Administrative Services.
