DEPARTMENT STORE SALES IN FEBRUARY 1931
Preliminary report
Department s t o r e sales were s l i g h t l y l a r g e r in February than i n January,
on a daily average b a s i s , according to preliminary f i g u r e s reported to the
Federal Reserve Board.
The Board's preliminary index, which makes allowance
f o r estimated seasonal movements, advanced from 97 to §8 per cent of the 19231925 average, approximately the l e v e l maintained during t h e l a s t half of 1930,
I n comparison with a year ago, the aggregate value of sales in February,
according to the preliminary f i g u r e s , was 9 per cent smaller.
