DSPiSBBNT STORE SALES IN JUNE 1931

Preliminary f i g u r e s on the volume of department s t o r e sales show a decrease of 6 per cent from May to June on an average d a i l y b a s i s . The Federal
Reserve Board's index, which makes allowance both f o r number of business days
and f o r usual seasonal changes, was 96 i n June, on the basis of the 1923-1925
average as 100, compared with 97 in May and 106 in April.
In comparison with a year ago the value of sales f o r June, according
to the preliminary f i g u r e s , was 3 per cent smaller, and the aggregate f o r
the f i r s t half of the year was 9 per cent smaller.
