The Federal Reserve Board's index, which makes allowance f o r d i f f e r e n c e s i n the number of b u s i ness days and f o r usual seasonal changes, was ~[2 i n January, on the b a s i s of the 1923-25 average as 100, compared with j6 i n December and 73 November, In comparison with a year ago, the value of sales f o r January was 4 percent l a r g e r .
