Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
weelc ended September IS, aggregated $8,464,000,000, or 24 per cent above the total
reported for the preceding week and 22 per cent above the total for the corres­
ponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7 ,873.000,000, compared with $6,260,000,000
tho preceding week and $6,428,000,000 the week ended September 19 of last year.
