BAM DEBITS

Board of Governors

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for
the week ended September 16, aggregated ;-j9,777,000,000, or 49 percent above the
total reported for the preceding week, which included only five business days, and
16 percent above the total for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4 l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to -;9,0 6 2 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 , compared with ^6 ,0 3 8 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0
the preceding week and 4'7,841,000,000 the week ended September 18 of last year.
