BANK DEBITS—DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS
Bank debits as reported by banks in 333 leading centers for the month of
August aggregated 128,373 million dollars. During the past three months total debits for the same centers amounted to 358,325 million dollars or 17 per cent above
the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York
City there was an increase of 15 per cent compared with the corresponding threemonths period a year ago, and at the 332 other centers there was an increase of
18 per cent.
