BANK DEBITS—DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS
Bank d e b i t s as reported by banks in 331+ leading centers for the month of
August aggregated 69,213 m i l l i o n d o l l a r s . During the past three months t o t a l debit?
f o r t h e same centers amounted t o 225,966 m i l l i o n d o l l a r s or 17 P®r cent above the
t o t a l reported f o r the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City
there was an increase of 25 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months
period a year ago, and a t the 333 other centers t h e r e was an increase of 13 percent*
