R. 286 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Board of Governors For immediate release of the Federal Reserve System ; September 10, I9l\2 BANK DEBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS Bank debits as reported by banks in 274 leading centers for the month of August aggregated 14.9,180 million dollars. During the past three months total debits for the same centers amounted to 149,374 million dollars or 12 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 6 per cent compared with the corresponding three-month' period a year ago, and at the 273 other centers there was an increase of 15 per cent.
