of the Federal Reserve System
August 31, 1935*

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended August 28, aggregated $6,520,000,000, or l4 per cent below the total
reported for the preceding week and 19 per cent above the total for the corres­
ponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,060,000,000, conpared with $7,075*000,000
the preceding week and $5,109,000,000 the week ended August 29 of last year.
