BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
.October 3, 1938

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended September 28, aggregated $6,7*7,000,000, or 22 percent below the total
reported for the preceding week and 17 percent below the total for the correspond­
ing week of last year#
Aggregate debits for the 1*1 cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,160,000,000, compared with $7,920,000,000
the preceding week and $7 ,* 68,000,000 the week ended September 29 of last year*
