BANK DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board by
banlcs in leading cities for the week ended October 11, aggregated $5,7^3,000,000,
or 21 per cent below the total reported for the preceding week and 9 per cent above
the total, for the corresponding: week of last year, which included only five busi­
ness days in many of the reporting cities.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to about $5,315,000,000, compared with
$6,751*000,000 the preceding week and $4,377*000,000 the week ended October 12 of
last year.
