BANK DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts for the week ending November l4 aggregated
$9,314,000,000, or $ 73 , 000,000 less than the total of $9,387, 000,000 reported for the
preceding week. New York City reports an increase for the week of $107,000,000,
Philadelphia - an increase of $37,000,000, and Detroit - an increase of $23,000,000*
A decrease of $84,000,000 is reported by Boston; Chicago reports a decrease of
$48,000,000 and San Francisco - a decrease of $23,000,000.
As compared with the corresponding period in 1922, deoits for the week under
review show a decrease from $9 , 625 , 000,000 to $9,314,000,000, or of about 3 Per cent.
Smaller figures are reported by most of the larger centers* For New York City the de­
cline was $256,000,000, and for Chicago - $53,000,000. Los Angeles reports an inc ..
crease of $21,000,000, Cleveland - an increase of about $10,000,000 and Detroit - an
increase of $9 , 000, 000.
Debits to individual accounts are reported to the Federal Reserve Board by oanks
in 253 centers, of which 246 are included in the summary by Federal reserve districts*
