Debits tc individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Beard by banks
in leading c it ie s , aggregated $11,119,000,000 or 6 .4 per cent above the to ta l of
$1 0 ,44g,000,000 reported fo r the preceding week. New Ycrk City reports an increase
of $573,000,000, Detroit - of $24,000,300, and Philadelphia - of $21,000,000,
A
decline of $32,000,000 is rep:rted for Chicago, $16,000,000 for Pittsburgh and
$1 5 , 000,000 for Boston.
As compared with the week ending November l4 , 1923, debits for the week under
review show an increase of $1,313,000,000 or 19•5 per cent.
The largest increases
reported were as follow s: New Ycrk City $ 1 ,4 9 7 ,000,000,' Boston, $95,000,000,
Minneapolis $34,000,000, and Chicago $33,000,003.
Aggregate debits for l 4 l centers fo r which figures have been published weekly
since January, 1919, were $ 1 0 ,510,506,000 as compared with $ 9 ,8 5 7 ,8 0 2 ,0 0 0 for the
preceding week and $ 8 ,7 3 3 ,7 3 3 ,0 0 0 for the week ending November l4 , 1923*
Debi+s to individual accounts were reported to the Federal Resertfe Board for
banks in 254 centers, o f which 246 are included in the summary by Federal reserve
d is t r ic t s .
