BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
November l 4 , 1938

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended November 9 , which included only five business days in many of the re­
porting centers, aggregated $6 , 688, 000, 000, or 28 percent below the total reported
for the preceding week and 16 percent below the total for the corresponding week
of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,087,000,000, compared with $ 8 , 635 , 000,000
the preceding week and $7,271,000,000 the week ended November 10 of last year.
