STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System May 8, 1937 Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended May 5, aggregated $9,874,000,000, or 13 percent above the total reported for the preceding wedt and 5 percent below the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main tained since January 1919 amounted to #9,117,000,000, compared with £8,057,000,000 the preceding week and $9,771,000,000 the week ended May 6 of last year.
