BANK DEBITS Debits to indivudual accounts, as reported by banks in leading c it ie s for the week ending May 21, aggregated $9,970,000,000 or about b„5 per cent above the total of $9.3^3,000,000 reported, for the preceding week. Most of the larger centers re port increases over the previous week’ s figures. New York C ity shows an increase <f about $391 ,.000,000,' Detroit - an increase of $46,000,000, Chicago - an increase of £ 26 , 000, 000, and Pittsburgh - an increase of $2 1 , 000, 000. As compared with the week ending May 23, 1923. debits for the week under review, which included the usual heavy mid-month payments, show an increase of $ 329 , 000,000 or of about 3 -4 per cent. New York City reports an increase of $347,CO*-1, 000, De tr o it - an increase of $18,000,000 and San Francisco - an increase of $15,000,000.
