Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended May 11, aggregated $7,193 >
000,000, or 16 percent below the total reported
for the preceding week and 17 percent below the total for the corresponding week of
last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,630,000,000, compared with $7,906,000,000
the preceding week and $7,953,000,000 the week ended May 12 of last year.
