BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
March 19, 1938

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended March 16, aggregated $8,469,000,000, or 16 percent above the total re­
ported for the preceding week and 22 percent below the total for the corresponding
week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7 , 823, 000,000, compared with $6,727,000,000
the preceding week and $10,172,000,000 the week ended March 17 of last year#
