Debits to individual accounts, as reported, to the Federal Reserve 3oard by
banks in leading cities for the week ending June 1, 1927, which included Memorial
Day observed as a holiday in most of the reporting centers, aggregated
13-2,785 ,000,000 or 2.4 per cent below the total of $13,105,000,000 reported for the
preceding week.
Total debits for the week under review are f1 ,4o6,000,000 or 12.4 per cent
above those for the week ending June 2, 1926. New York City reported an increase of
$1,189,000,000, Chicago $92,000,000, Pittsburgh $60,000,000, San Francisco
$31i000,000 and Philadelphia $26,000,000, while Cleveland ahd St. Louis reported
reductions of $38,000,000 and $22,000,000, respectively.
Aggregate debits for l4l centers for which figures have been published weekly
since January 1919 amounted to about ftl2,100,000,000, as compared with
$12, 410,960,000 for the preceding' week and $10,687,253,000 for the week ending
June 2, 1926.
