Bank d e b i t s as reported by banks i n 334 leading centers f o r the month of
May aggregated 85*098 m i l l i o n d o l l a r s . During the past three months t o t a l de bi t s
f o r the same centers amounted t o 261,009 m i l l i o n d o l l a r s or 10 per cent above the
t o t a l reported f o r the corresponding period a year ago. At banks i n New York City
there was an increase of lit per cent compared with the corresponding three-months
period a year ago, and a t the 333 other centers there was an increase of 8 per cent.
