Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board by
banks in leading cities for the weelc ended July 4, which included only five business
days, aggregated $ 7 ., 575 , 000, 000 , or l4 per cent above the total reported for the pre
ceding week and 4 per cent below the total for the corresponding week of last year,
which also included only five business days.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $7,030,000,000, compared with $6,167,000,000
the preceding week and $7,323,000,000 the week ended July 5 °f last year.
