(Released, for publication Sunday morning, July 4 , 1920J not earlier STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS ' , S t .1269 Federal Reserve Board j uly 3 ^ 1920 BANK DEBITS Below is givon the Federal Reserve Board's weekly statement of debits to individual account reported through the Federal Reserve Banks bjf over 150 of the country*s more important clearing houses* Transactions cover the weekly periods ending Wednesday, June 30 and June 23 of the present year and July 2, 1919» The statement closes with a recapitulation giving comparative figures by reserve districts for cities reporting complete data for the three weeks under review. Aggregate debits to individual account, reported by 152 Clearing Houses, show a further decline of 201 millions from the total for the immediately pre ceding week, all the larger centers, except Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Balti more and Los Angeles, showing reduced totals for the week. As compared with the corresponding period in 1919, viz, the week ending July 2, the most recent wsekly total of 4,550 millions for I 5I centers other than New York City shows an increase of paly > 5lfei!&illions, as compared with an increase of about 850 mil lions for the week before. It should be remembered, however, that the larger 1919 total,'includes considerable amounts represented by corporate disburse ments on account of dividends and interest and other payments customary at the close of the first half of the year. For New York City the cumulative effect of this factor and of the great reduction in the volume of stock exchange op erations is seen in a decrease of 606 millions from the corresponding 1919 to t)cil « J3EBITS TO INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT AT CLEARING HOUSE BANKS Week ending :June 30. 1920 ; June 23.1920 ; July 2, 1919 (in thousands of dollars) DISTRICT No. 1 - BOSTON Bangor 3,646 3,565 2,983 Boston 289, 517 370,280 302,400 Fall River 10,458 9,76-5 9,194 Hartford 22,121 25,314 22,921 Holyoke 4 , o 42 4,254 4,351 Lowell 5,612 5,378 6,879 Manchester 5,4o4 5,233 New Bedford 6, Sl4 9,540 7,954 New Haven 16,866 19,137 19,323 Portland 8,463 8,531 Providence 34,881 38,655 42,991 Springfield 17,258 19,445 11.115 Waterbury 7,286 7,456 5,547 Worcester 18,761 20,238 20,969 DISTRICT No. 2 - NEW YORK Albany Binghamton Buffalo New York Passaic Rochester Syracuse DISTRICT No. 3 - PHILADELPHIA Altoona Chester Harrisburg Johnstown Lancaster Philadelphia Reading Scranton Trenton Wilkes-Barre Williamsport Wilmington York 19,843 S 59s 68,320 4,1+63,000 5,124 30,305 4,997 t 68,473 4,490,831 30,511 3,765 76,372 5,068,924 5,022 3,9S5 32,169 18,328 33,188 19,1*3 38.115 16,617 3,528 5,088 4,517 5,108 3,466 5,585 4,133 3 ,4 0 ° 4,742 3,790 372,189 l6 ,4 ’?Hl i2 350,376 1 5,4 s 6 5,602 16,026 5,496 4,o6o 12,000 9,609 13,5S7 9,818 10,896 5,130 3,949 4,675 8,217 4,677 . ?4 ,670 ’ £97 367,886 4,083 13,521 9,618 7 ,522 3,374 11 , 0?6 J K D I'PS TO, INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT AT CLEARING HOUSE BANKS St. 1269a Week ending; June 30. 1920 ; June 23.1920 : July 2. 1919 (In thousands of dollars) DISTRICT No. 4 - CLEVELAND Akron 30,579 32,297 Cincinnati 68, 122 69,881 Cleveland 171,634 187,070 194 .161 Columbus 30,g63 33,589 Dayton 11.99S 13,728 11 ,9 s5Erie 8,355 6,642 8,989 Greensburg 4,991 6,915 3,247 Lexington 4,950 4,309 5,369 Oil City 2 1 , 1 1 9 6 2 , 6 0 6 2 9 , 9 7 8 Pittsburgh Springfield Toledo Wheeling Youngstown DISTRICT No. 5 - RICHMOND Baltimore Charleston Charlotte Columbia Huntington Norfolk R&leigh Ri cbmond DISTRICT No. 6 - ATLANTA Atlanta Augusta Birmingham Chattanooga Jacksonville Knoxville Macon Mobile Montgomery Nashville New Orleans Pensacola Savannah Tampa Vicksburg DISTRICT No. 7 - CHICAGO Bay City Bloomington Cedar Rapids Chicago Davenport Decatur Des Moines Detroit Dubuque Flint Ft.
