BANK DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board "by
banks in leading cities for the week ending July 19, aggregated $8,082,000,000, or
6 per cent above the total reported for the preceding week and 29 per cent above
the total for the corresponding week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to about $7*610,000,000, conpared with
$7,133*000,000 the preceding week and $5,7^2,000,000 the v/eek ending July 20 of
last year,
