BANK DEBITS
January 29, 1938 .

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended January 26, aggregated $7,-452,000,000, or 10 percent below the total re­
ported for the preceding week and 19 percent below the total for the corresponding
week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the 1-41 cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,869,000,000, compared with §7,646,000,000
the preceding week and $8,543,000,000 the week ended January 27 of last year.
